The selection procedure for BSF Constable Tradesman is a multi – stage process designed to assess the candidate’s physical fitness, skills, and knowledge. The states are as follows :
- Written Examination : A 100 – mark objective-type written test will be conducted. The exam will last for 2 hours and will cover subjects such as General Awareness/Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude/Reasoning, and basic English/Hindi. There will be no negative marking.
- Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) : Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for PST and PET.
- PST : This involves measuring the candidate’s height, chest, and weight according to the standards set by the BSF.
- PET : This is a test of physical endurance. Male candidates will be required to run 5 km in 24 minutes, while female candidates will have to run 1.6 km in 8.30 minutes.
- Document Verification : All original document of the candidates will be verified at this stage.
- Trade Test : Candidates will have to demonstrate their skills in the trade they have applied for. This test is qualifying in nature.
- Medical Examination : A detailed medical examination will be conducted to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to serve in the BSF.
